Trump “had a feeling” that Iran was developing a bomb. Our intelligence services said otherwise. And he “had a feeling” that the GBU-57 bombs had “totally obliterated” their nuclear facilities. Again, our own intelligence professionals said otherwise. Trump’s press secretary said it was all intended to demean (to lower in character, status, or reputation) him. Thanks, but Trump doesn’t need any help looking dumb. He does that all by himself.
The job of our intelligence services is to give accurate, objective information to our decision-makers. These are highly intelligent people with advanced degrees who don’t make a lot of money (compared to what they could get in the private sector), who “don’t have a horse in this race,” and who have dedicated their lives to thoughtful analysis of the complex threats facing our country.
Trump is the best-documented compulsive liar in human history.
Who do you believe?
OK, the surface buildings we bombed in Iran were obviously “obliterated.” But, as I posted previously, the math casts doubt on the effectiveness against the underground facilities. And the fact that no radiation has been detected at any of the sites indicates that the enriched uranium was spirited away before we hit. General Cain can spin as convincing a tale as he likes but I have “low confidence” in the assessments of any of Trump’s minions.
