A History of Things To Come
(or one possible future)
After several state legislatures overturned the initial results in the name of restoring voter integrity and the will of the people, and several violent incidents, Donald J. Trump once again became President of the United States in 2024. Representatives at the state level had been quietly passing certain provisions since 2016 in preparation for just such an eventuality. And their baseless cries of election fraud in 2020 had immunized the public against such accusations by the other side when the real thing came along.
Consequently, all of the criminal charges against Trump were quickly dropped while a host of criminal charges were made against “enemies of the state” in a broad purge of government officials who had made the mistake of crossing him. Tribunals were set up at both the state and federal levels to expeditiously process all those who had conspired to commit treason. Some fled and were rumored to have found refuge in other countries.
The Army was deployed at our border with Mexico and Congress had passed sweeping immigration reform granting the military authority to use lethal force to restore security there. Many had been killed as they tried to “illegally force their way into our country.” ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) had received a huge influx of funding to enable them to enforce the President’s executive order to round up and deport anyone in our country illegally. Mexico and several other Central American countries were furious at the constant stream of flights from the US dumping their citizens at their airports.
New legislation was passed to regulate social media as well as traditional media companies in order to eliminate “fake news.” Part of the new approach included the creation of a new federal agency The Department of Communication Integrity with the requirement that their representatives review and authorize any dissemination of information concerning government issues. Steep penalties (including jail time) could be incurred for violation of this policy by either organizations or individuals.
Ukraine was now a federal territory (or kray) of Russia. Their army had been quickly overrun once Congress voted to cut off all funding for “an endless war where no vital US interests were at stake.” Former NATO member countries had formed a new alliance once the United States left and announced its new defense posture saying that “NATO was an outdated organization whose purpose for being no longer existed.” Relations with Russia and China were the best they had ever been. And talks were underway to find a way to resolve “the Taiwan problem.”
Trump had called for a Mideast Peace Conference with the leaders of all the countries involved. The meeting was held in Jerusalem and, despite the heated rhetoric of several Arab governments, everyone showed up including Trump himself. After several days of meetings, even his most die-hard opponents were won over by the charismatic President. And the world was stunned when the news was announced that all parties had agreed to a peace plan that included recognition of Israel by all the Arab states, a new Palestinian state (with East Jerusalem as its capital), and the rebuilding of the Jewish Temple next to the Al-Aqsa Mosque. The whole world celebrated that peace had finally come to this war-torn region.
The Johnson Amendment in the US tax code requiring churches to limit their political involvement in order to maintain their tax-exempt status had been repealed by Executive Order. This allowed churches the liberty to endorse candidates and actively engage political issues. After the “miracle” of the Mideast Peace Agreement, many churches had begun to teach that Trump was a modern-day prophet and “apostle of peace” and they saw the agreement as part of making the world fit for Christ to return and rule it.
All the world was amazed by what Trump had accomplished. They sang his praises and nodded their approval at the arrest of the few troublemakers who simply refused to get with the program. And for all of his followers, things were going great…at least for the first 3.5 years. But…that’s a story for another day…then again, maybe this is all just paranoid delusions. It could never happen here, right?
While I was contemplating the horns, behold, another horn, a little one, came up among them, and three of the first horns were pulled out by the roots before it; and behold, this horn possessed eyes like the eyes of a man and a mouth uttering great boasts. - Daniel 7:8
…it will fling truth to the ground and perform its will and prosper - Daniel 8:12
They worshiped the dragon because he gave his authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast, and who is able to wage war with him?” - Revelation 13:4
“For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect. Behold, I have told you in advance.” - Matthew 24:24,25
